keder vs zipper - Which sidetrack system is right for you?
Sidetrack retention systems for retractable outdoor screens can be keder-based or zipper-based. Keder-based systems offer a higher wind rating (75-155 mph depending on the size and application), and are suitable for larger openings (up to 30′ wide). Zipper-based systems have a more moderate wind rating (40-60 mph), and are suitable for small to mid-sized openings (up to 18′ wide). Most keder systems utilize an adjustable inner track, while zipper systems have a fixed inner track.
For keder-based retractable screens, we offer the MagnaTrack™ system manufactured by Progressive Screens. The MagnaTrack™ system is widely regarded as the best performing motorized screen system on the market. It features a patented sidetrack system that utilizes rare-earth neodymium magnets to create a self-tensioning inner track.

Screen Material Options
Motorized patio screens and retractable shades can be outfitted with a wide variety of solar screens and insect screens. Solar screens have a tighter weave (1% to 20% openness), resulting in more privacy, better protection from the sun and wind, as well as lower dirt and dust infiltration. Insect screens have a much more open weave, resulting in better ventilation and preservation of natural light. Both types of screen offer excellent insect protection.

hardware color options
The visible hardware on a motorized screen system consists of a housing, sidetracks, and weight bar. These components are made from extruded architectural aluminum with a powder coated finish. Hardware is available in several different stock finish colors including Black, Bronze, Beige, Tan, Gray, and White. Custom order finish colors are also available.
Control Options
Our motorized screen and shade systems are equipped with Gaposa and Somfy tube motors. Each unit can be controlled independently or together in groups with a handheld remote or wireless wall switch. Motorized screens and shades can also be controlled with your smartphone and integrated into most home automation systems using a Bond Bridge Wi-Fi adapter.
